The story behind this guitar: I was cruising Ochanomizu with Steve Vai’s guitar rep from Ibanez one afternoon. I had enlisted him to help me find an acoustic. We tried every guitar in every shop over a period of countless hours, and yet I didn’t really feel it until I picked up this one. As soon as he heard this guitar, he asked to play it. He looked up at me tentatively and said, “Are you…uh, are you going to…buy this?!” It has booming bass and sparkly highs. The bass resonates all day and has a power unlike I have never heard in another guitar. We had indeed stumbled onto THE diamond in the vast sea of six-stringed acoustic rough. Another afternoon, I sat in my living room with Paul Gilbert and Simon Croft, one of two guitarist extraordinaires from the We Will Rock You musical. We passed guitars around, and this lovely instrument was treated to tunes from AC/DC to Zappa, Paganini, and Astrud Gilberto, and many in between, plied by the fingers of masters (which does not include me). And thus, the magic multiplied.
It gives me great pain and sadness to say that an unruly guitar stand had a foam cushion on it that marred the finish on the back of the neck in one spot. It’s very NOT noticeable and has zero affect on the sound of this guitar, but there it is.
